Blancco announced new asset processing and erasure support for Apple wearables, strengthening its unique position as the only provider with full coverage across iPhone, iPad, Mac computer and mouse, AirPods, and all Apple Watch series.

With this announcement, Blancco helps to meet the growing demand for more reasonably priced used devices by enabling comprehensive wearable device processing that includes authentication, diagnostics, and certified data erasure.

The newly expanded Blancco Eraser for Apple Devices helps to:

- Mitigate risks by identifying devices that remain paired to iCloud or an Apple ID, ensuring that processors are alerted to lock and pairing status before resale

- Streamline complexity as a single trusted source of erasure and diagnostics for the broadest set of Apple assets and across the most asset types in the market in general.

Blancco Technology Group, the industry standard in data erasure and mobile lifecycle solutions, announced that Blancco Eraser for Apple Devices now offers the most complete, trusted, and scalable erasure and diagnostics for Apple electronics. By adding support for the latest Apple Watch wearables and AirPods wireless headphones, Blancco has fortified its leadership position in Apple asset processing with full coverage across iPhone, iPad, Mac computers, Magic Mouse, AirPods, and all Apple Watch series.

As technologies enter the new and refurbished markets, ITADs and mobile processors continue to diversify the types of assets they handle, with wearables as a key area of growth. Globally, the wearables market reached nearly 535 million units in 2024, marking a 5.4% year-over-year growth, according to IDC. The refurbished wearables market was recorded to be nearly $72B in 2024, and is anticipated to rise to $255B through 2034. Apple is currently the global leader in key wearable market segments, including smartwatches and wireless headphones, capturing approximately 40% and 23% of market share, respectively.

The rising popularity of wearables has created the need for comprehensive used device processing that spans authentication, diagnostics, and certified data erasure. For example, AirPods or Apple Watches still linked to the original user’s Apple ID (via iCloud Activation Lock) can block reuse, delay resale, and increase the risk of returns or fraud. Additionally, Apple Watches—if not properly reset—may retain pairing to nearby Apple devices, raising concerns about potential unauthorized access or unintended functionality. Blancco Eraser for Apple Devices helps mitigate these risks by identifying devices that remain paired to iCloud or an Apple ID. This detection capability ensures that processors are alerted to lock and pairing status before resale, which plays a critical role in preventing the accidental sale of locked or user-associated hardware—saving time, avoiding disputes, and protecting brand reputation.

Companies in this ecosystem often rely on multiple providers, and even multiple platforms from the same vendor, to process the diverse range of products destined for resale. The expanded Blancco Eraser for Apple Devices streamlines this complexity by supporting the market’s broadest set of Apple assets, helping reduce operational costs and improve efficiency. The enhanced solution portfolio reinforces Blancco’s position as a single trusted source for erasure and diagnostics across the largest variety of asset types in the market.
