MWingz, a joint venture owned by Proximus and Orange Belgium, has selected Comarch to support them on their way towards operating and managing a shared network.

In 2019, Proximus and Orange Belgium announced a collaboration to develop the mobile access network of the future by sharing active and passive equipment of the radio Access Network (RAN). MWingz is the joint venture that has been created to plan, build and operate the common grid. This joint venture is owned by Proximus and Orange Belgium, and is based in Brussels.

The partnership between Comarch and MWingz was formalized in August 2021, and includes delivering modules such as Comarch Network Inventory Management, Network Planning & Design (Framework), Network Auto-Discovery & Reconciliation, and Configuration Management. The Comarch solution will be delivered in the SaaS model (licenses, managed services, hosting and disaster recovery option).

Thanks to the solutions provided by Comarch, MWingz will have a single end to end view of the shared network infrastructure, and reduce CAPEX and other network operating costs.

As for the end-users of mobile communications services, they’ll get better coverage, higher service quality, and easier access to new services due to faster 5G roll-out.

“We chose Comarch for their proven experience with key telco groups in Europe, including experience in mergers and consolidation projects, for radio access. Critical criteria for us are the immediate availability of a rich set of out-of-the-box solutions for MORAN, use of an agile delivery method, and an attractive Software-as-a-Service approach when it comes to product delivery”, says Krist Deforche, Head of IT at MWingz.
