Microsoft announced the availability of Microsoft Fabric Go Local in Singapore to support data residency needs for government and regulated workloads, along with Windows 365 Link devices for secure connections to Cloud PCs from anywhere.

These announcements were made at Microsoft Singapore Public Sector Solutions Day, a full-day event bringing together 500 government leaders, agencies, partners and developers to explore how public sector organisations can strengthen national AI readiness, scale responsible AI to improve citizen services, and build an AI-skilled workforce including through a new AI skilling initiative.

Guest of honour at today’s event was Minister of State for the Ministry of Digital Development and Information Mdm Rahayu Mahzam, with showcases from public sector customers and government agencies highlighting practical approaches to modernising data foundations and applying AI to real-world needs.

Today’s news follows Microsoft’s announcement last week that the company is on track to spend US$5.5 billion on cloud and AI infrastructure and ongoing operations in Singapore from 2025 until the end of 2029.

Introducing Microsoft Fabric Go Local Singapore

Microsoft Fabric is a unified, end-to-end analytics platform that brings together data engineering, data warehousing, real-time analytics, and business intelligence in a single software-as-a-service (SaaS) experience.

Microsoft Fabric Go Local Singapore begins with data residency for core Fabric workloads, including OneLake, Data Factory, Data Engineering, Data Warehouse, Data Science, Power BI, and Databases, with customer data at rest stored within Singapore’s borders under local governance and compliance standards.

Additional capabilities, including Copilot, Fabric IQ and Real-Time Intelligence, will be progressively introduced as part of the Fabric Go Local roadmap, ensuring continued alignment with Singapore’s regulatory, security, and trust requirements.

Fabric Go Local operates on Microsoft’s global Azure cloud foundation, providing data residency built on the principles of control, security, and trust with global openness – enabling high-trust workloads while preserving cross-border digital flows and interoperability, with embedded cybersecurity, data protection, and responsible AI. This is the extension of Fabric’s standard capabilities into the Singapore datacentre region to meet local needs.

Windows 365 Link Devices

For the first time, Windows 365 Link devices are available in Singapore. Windows 365 Link is a purpose-built, compact hardware Cloud PC device designed to connect users directly to Windows 365 in seconds. It provides a secure, simplified management and high-fidelity endpoint – ideal for shared workspaces, call centres, and hybrid work environments as it stores no local data and supports no local applications.

As Singapore organisations embrace hybrid work, the ability to access a full Windows 365 Cloud PC from any device, anywhere, has become essential. Windows 365 Link meets this need by delivering a consistent, personal Windows experience without the complexity and security risks of traditional endpoints – making it easier for IT teams to manage at scale while keeping employees productive on the go.

At an exhibition booth at the Public Sector Solutions Day, visitors experienced its features including Zero Trust Access and AI-enabled capabilities designed to deliver enhanced flexibility and security for customers across industries.

Wee Luen Chia, Microsoft Singapore Managing Director

The introduction of Microsoft Fabric Go Local and Windows 365 Link underscore our long-term commitment to Singapore’s digital future. As the country doubles down on AI transformation and innovation, we are investing in the local infrastructure and offerings needed to support that growth with the highest levels of trust, security, and performance. We’ll continue to work hand-in-hand with government agencies, regulators, and businesses in Singapore to unlock new opportunities through technology.
